Congratulations to all GCI students!

Over the course of the past two months, students have been working on various SugarLabs projects for credit toward the “Google-Code-In” contest.

Students did a fantastic job and some of there work will be showcased on the website. Be on the lookout!

Projects included contributions to:

  • Documentation (e.g. manuals)
  • Code Base (e.g. new features)
  • Quality Assurance (e.g. testing and bug reports)
  • Research (e.g. interviews)

Because Music Blocks is free software that gives students the liberties they need to learn and discover, students were able to contribute to the code base in a meaningful way. Additionally, we required that students submit documentation and research contributions under an appropriate Creative Commons License (manuals are licensed CC-BY-SA and interviews/opinions licensed as CC-BY-ND). This means that their work will have a lasting impact on the community while students will continue to be credited as the original authors of these important documents.
