Music Blocks License Updated to AGPL

Music Blocks authors, Walter Bender (SugarLabs) and Yash Khandelwal have updated the license from the GNU General Public License (GPL) to the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL).

Walter Bender has stated that it was his original intention to license Music Blocks, which is a fork of Turtle-Blocks (js), under the terms of the AGPL.

What this means, in short, is that source code modifications of Music Blocks that are published on a server must be made readily available to an end-user. This affords all users accessing Music Blocks software from a server the same software freedoms that the website’s administrator enjoys.

Software freedom is a very good thing for all of us, and its benefits are especially important in education. Please see https://gnu.org/education/education.html for more information.
