GCI 2016 Students Begin Tasks

This year’s Google Code-In (GCI) contest has begun and a few students have completed their first tasks for Music Blocks as part of SugarLabs’ participation in GCI.

Below are samples from two blogs that were submitted thus far for GCI 2016 that we wanted to share with everyone.

Music composing was originally thought to be a pen & paper, with random bursts of inspirations; or a digital composer online. No matter what, it usually involves scores, notes … But I had never expected to be composing and experimenting with music using programming. It was a refreshing new interface for me as I have no experience in Turtle Blocks Programming.

Overall, MusicBlock is a really interesting and helpful invention for children. It brings a lot of benefits to students. It not only helps student to enrich music and coding knowledge but also make them relax after  school. However, there are still some drawbacks that should be improved to enhance it. Thank you guys for making such a great open source project.
